Description:
"There are silences that scream, and cracks that cannot be seen — yet inhabit everything."
Broken does not simply portray a face — it reveals a state of soul. A female figure, fragmented within but standing on the outside. The firm lines, rendered in pointillism and hatching, suggest a structure seemingly intact, yet marked by fissures that creep in like fractures in emotional porcelain. The eyes, hard and hollow, hint at an absence — as if something had been taken forever, leaving behind only the outline of a presence.
Sandra Chaves presents here a deeply psychological portrait, where beauty is found in the acknowledgment of pain, and strength in the ability to carry on — even while shattered. The work speaks of silent traumas, of the invisible weight many bear, and of the strange dignity in those who refuse to fall — even when broken.
A dense, intimate, and courageous piece — meant for spaces that welcome the raw truth of the human condition.
